Papers of the Ryland and Garnett families [manuscript] 1154-1932.

Included are Lt. Josiah Ryland's C.S.A. diary, describing the Penisula Campaign, a meeting with Jefferson Davis, and the wounding of Gen. Joseph Johnston at the Battle of Seven Pines. Other manuscripts relate to John Ferguson Ryland, John N. Ryland, and Miss Callie Ryland. Miscellaneous Garnett family manuscripts, 1844-1873, include material relating to John M. Garnett and John J. Garnett. Also a copy, 1775, of the will of Humphrey Will, St. Stephens Parish, King and Queen County, Va., and genealogical material of the Corbin, Hill, and Peachy families. The collection also contains a letter to Mademoiselle C. Ryland from Maurice Maeterlenck, 1907 September 21, concerning permission for a benefit performance of "Soeur BeĢatrice."
